Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship: Why Many Women Choose to Leave the 9-5
Like many of you, the pandemic forced me to reckon with everything. The purpose of life and work. This story is old news now. Thousands of us have gone through this over the last 3-4 years.
But what do we do with this realization? We know we deserve more. But how do we find financial stability with fulfillment and work/life balance too? What are our options?
Freelance Copywriting Wasn’t My Passion. Is it the Soulmate for Your Solopreneur Spirit?
Copywriting sounded like a perfect match for me! And I jumped in with both feet. I quit my job (I was planning to do it eventually anyway). I dedicated all my time to being the best copywriter.
I loved how I could make my own schedule. I loved getting to fall down all these rabbit holes of information. I love the community that I found in Write Your Way To Freedom. I loved the idea of helping companies find their audience.
But like most fairytales, when reality set in, I realized it wasn’t a good fit for me.
Ready to Try Freelance Copywriting? Enrolling in Courses Provides a Strong Start
My first effort as a solopreneur was through Write Your Way to Freedom, WYWTF (as we call it) is a copywriting course and community. It takes you from knowing nothing about writing copy to establishing your business. And once it's established, they have continuing education.
I don't love the name. But Sarah Turner, the owner of WYWTF has created something awesome. She started out learning how to write copy on her own and built it into this community. I have tremendous respect for her.
Curious About Freelance Copywriting? You Need to Prepare for a Tough Start
Riding a bike, yoga, skydiving, sex. What do they have in common?
They are all rough the first time, but if you keep going you get the hang of it and the payoff is awesome! (I haven’t ever gone skydiving but I have friends that have tried to convince me).
It is the same for freelance copywriting. There are a lot of plus sides. But of course, there are going to be cons that you should consider.
Looking For Solopreneur Business Ideas? Here Are Some of the Great Things About Copywriting
Copywriting is one of the most stable solopreneur businesses right now. Once you get established there is plenty of work out there! Every product, service, individual, etc needs to have an online presence at this point.
Almost no one actually knows how to do it well (even if they think they do). Plus it takes their focus away from running their business. It’s in their best interest to have someone do it for them.
A lot of industries worry about AI. I don’t buy into the fear but it’s not a real threat for copywriters. Copywriting is about relating to a specific audience and making emotional connections. AI, for all the progress it has made, isn’t very good at this.
Copywriting Online: What Is It and Is It the Right Path for Your Success?
Peggy from Mad Men, she's a copywriter. But what does that mean exactly? Even if Don Draper isn't breathing over your shoulder, it seems like a tough job.
Copywriting has changed a lot & writing copy online is very different. People are seeing fewer commercials due to online streaming. Few people read magazines or newspapers anymore.
Online copywriting is vital to all businesses today because being successful requires having an online presence. The need for digital marketing strategies from copywriters isn't going away anytime soon.
