Crash-Testing Solopreneur Business Ideas: See Which One Is Perfect for You

While I’m trying to find my passion, you might find yours too.

Am I the only one getting bombarded with ads for being an entrepreneur? Or starting an at-home business? You probably see them and think, “What kind of sucker falls for these?”

Me. I am the target audience and all the algorithms know it. I have already dabbled in a few and I have a list of others I’m curious about. I didn’t fork out any money for most of them. Thankfully.

I quit my miserable job about 7ish months ago so I could pursue something more fulfilling. I was sick of the 9–5. Sick of my company flip-flopping on whether we could work at home or not. And them not delivering to their employees or clients what they had promised.

I am not going back.

I will find a path for me to work for myself full-time in a way that helps others. I will do something that lets me spend more time with friends, family, my cat, and traveling. I will not do work that keeps me up at night from guilt or stress.

To that end, I am trying out many different ventures to find a good fit. So far I have made roughly $500-$600 in total across my different attempts. I’m aware that it takes time to build a business and if I keep switching my project, I’m not giving it enough time to take off. I know this.

But I still haven’t found my thing. I have 5ish months left of my one year to figure it out. I decided to keep myself on track I am going to share my progress and projects.

The Wrap Up

Are also trying to do the solopreneur thing, but haven’t quite found anything you love, you can follow along. Hopefully, my zig-zaggy journey will help you.

Or are you curious about some of these money-making schemes you keep hearing about? Are they BS? How long does it really take? What kind of investment is there? How complicated is it?

Much as I am curious about all these projects, I am a skeptic. I always assume there is a catch or it’s a lot harder than they claim. I am not an expert in any of these endeavors. If you are wondering how easy it is for a novice, I am in my 40s, not a genius, or a tech genius. I have some basic skills. But I hate spending hours trying to figure something out.

…My first effort, and what started this journey, was with copywriting. Write Your Way to Freedom sparked my curiosity and made me realize I wanted to quit my job. It’s a cheesy name, I know, but Sarah Turner has created something awesome and I have tremendous respect for her. She is a copywriter and built a community of copywriters who support each other. I will be posting additional blogs about copywriting and this course.
