Snow-laden pines at the edge of a frozen lake in low winter sun

Our story

The willow bends and comes back.

Modern winter outerwear, made for five months of ordinary days rather than one cold weekend.

Where we started

Winter is not a weekend.

Most winter coats are designed for the first cold morning. They look right in November, then by February the zip catches, the cuffs have gone, and the fill has settled somewhere around your hips.

We wanted the opposite. A coat for the whole season: the dark walk to the station, the dog that needs going out whatever the weather, the wait on a platform when the train is late again. Not mountain gear and not a fashion piece. Just good outerwear that keeps working, day after ordinary day, until the snow is gone.

That is what Winter Willow makes. A small range of parkas, puffers, jackets and shells, each one built to be worn every day of the winter and still look like itself in spring.

The name

Why the willow.

A willow does not fight the weather. It takes the weight of the snow, bends under it, and comes back every spring as if nothing happened. We liked that as a way to think about a coat. It should move with you, carry a hard winter without complaint, and be ready to go again next year.

It is also a quieter idea than most outerwear brands go for. No expedition stories, no extreme ratings we could never prove. Just honest coats for real winters, made to bend and not break.

Our approach

Three things we hold to.

Warmth you can measure

Every coat lists its fill, its fill weight and the temperature range it is comfortable in, so you can compare two coats that look the same.

Fill chosen by climate

Down where the cold is dry, synthetic where it is wet. We tell you which and why, rather than calling everything the warmest.

Made to last a season and more

Recycled face fabrics, taped seams where it matters, and our one winter guarantee on every zip, seam and baffle.

Find your coat for the long winter.
